A five-month-old baby has been reportedly killed and several others injured after an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority attempted to arrest a commercial bus driver for violating the traffic law around the Awoyokun end of Ikorodu Road. Bill Cosby   will finally have to answer for the numerous allegations of sexual abuse and assault that have come out against him in the past two years. Residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State on Tuesday stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a female victim raised the alarm. At about 12am, while a carnival went on in the area, a woman in her late 20s, whose name had yet to be known, had run into the party with her throat partly cut, while blood was streaming out of her body.

President Muhammadu Buhari has so far traveled out of the country 17 times since his inauguration as the President on May 29. Investigation revealed that since June, there was no month that Buhari did not travel out of the country on official engagements.

A woman, identified as Esther Williams, has been arrested by the Isheri division of the Lagos State Police Command for pouring hot water on her neighbour, Mabel Enwongomfon–Umoh, who is a nursing mother. Williams, who is said to be in her late 30s, was said to have emptied a bucket of hot water on Mabel after they had a minor argument in their rented house on Thursday, December 24, 2015, around 8pm.

Mrs Beatrice Oyesunle, the 75-year-old mother of the twin brothers who were shot to death by a drunk Mobile Police Sergeant, weekend, alongside their friend, in Ketu area of Lagos, yesterday said the death of her only surviving children had crumbled her world. This is just as one of the children, Taiwo Oyesunle, was discovered to be a Naval personnel attached to the Nigerian Navy Ship Wey, Satelite. A twin-blast has been reported in Maiduguri, Borno State capital on Monday morning, The blasts were said to have occurred at the Polo area of Maiduguri with one of them in a Mosque.

The Federal Government on Sunday began a probe into the security breach that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where scores of angry passengers of a Turkish Airlines flight invaded the NAIA’s tarmac and stopped the carrier’s aircraft from taking off. As a result of the incident, which occurred from 11pm on December 24 till around 2am on December 25, 2015, the government stated that it had suspended the head of security, the NAIA Manager as well as the Terminal Manager pending when investigations were completed.

The Minority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Oladejo Makinde is dead. Makinde who is popularly called Igwe, one of the two members of the People’s Democratic Party at the House died in the early hour of Sunday, the exact day he clocked 48.  Makinde died after a brief illness.

A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Alhaji Bashir Albasu, has called on the Federal Government to address growing level of injustice, ignorance, poverty and corruption at the grassroots. Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, yesterday morning protested on the streets of Kano to mark the birthday of Prophet Mohammed and mourn the killings of of their colleagues in Zaria two weeks ago by soldiers. A young Muslim lady, who is a student was ‘spat at and called a terrorist’ on a London bus while other passengers ‘smiled and did nothing’, it has been claimed. Irqa Mohamed, 20, said she was the victim of a racist rant while she was wearing a hijab on the bus in Islington. She said she ‘did not think she would leave the bus alive’, alleging a ‘crazed’ man spat at her and racially abused her while other passengers did nothing last Sunday.

The Ebonyi Police Command said it had arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly defiling nine children aged between six and 10. The suspect, a father of three, allegedly carried out the act at Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, where he lived in the same compound with the victims. Mr George Okafor, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest, adding that the matter was under investigation.

Tragedy struck on Allen Avenue, in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, after a yet-to-be-identified teenage girl was killed in a fire disaster. the victim we heard was locked up inside her parents’ apartment on the second floor of the two-storeyed building on Ladipo Kuku Street. Her mother, who was alleged to be cooking in the kitchen, was said to have left the house and gone outside when the incident happened.

No fewer than 100 persons on Thursday died in the gas plant explosion in Nnewi, Nnewi Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to residents of Nnewi, several buildings, over 60 vehicles and more than 50 motorcycles were burnt beyond recognition in the disaster, where more than 20 other people sustained injuries. The Christmas Eve fire, which emanated from Inter Corp Oil Limited (LPG Gas Plant), a member of Chikason Group, started at about 11am.

Fatai Sabitu, a 19-year-old vulcaniser who was alleged to have killed his friend, Yusuf Sheu, says he punched him only once. Sabitu, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, explained that after the 38-year-old slumped, he rushed him to two different hospitals before he died.   Sabitu and Sheu, who both lived on Raji Fashola Road, in the Imude-Shibiri area of Ojo, Otto Awori Local Council Development Area, had fought over a stolen phone.

A Lagos lawyer’s secretary, Gbenga Akindele, who allegedly bolted with his employer’s N118, 000, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The 21-year-old, who lives at Agege in Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing. According to the prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, the accused committed the offence on Dec. 17 at Tabon-Tabon in Agege.
