Sanwo-Olu formally declares ambition, PDP reiterates offer to Ambode

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s main contender, on Sunday declared his intention to vie for the Lagos State governorship ticket of the All Progressives Party, promising to restore the glory of Lagos State. The former Lagos State Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pension, who spoke at the City Hall on Lagos Island on Sunday, stated that he would consolidate on the feats of the builders of modern Lagos if given the chance to govern the state. Sanwo-Olu came into reckoning last Tuesday after he obtained the state governorship form. He was immediately backed by the APC powerful Mandate Movement in Lagos, led by a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Ambode faces impeachment, as 57 LG chairmen back Sanwo-Olu

A day after Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State officially declared his bid for a second term, there is a threat to impeach the governor, TheCable has reported. The impeachment threat is not unconnected to an ongoing rift between Ambode and APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Ambode had on Monday obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja. Quoting credible sources, TheCable, on Tuesday claimed 57 council chairmen, who are fiercely loyal to Tinubu, have met and pledged their support to his preferred candidate, Jide Sanwo-Olu.

EFCC closes case against Ladoja on Alleged N4.7bn fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday closed its case against a former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Ladoja for alleged N4.7 billion fraud at a Federal High Court in Lagos. Ladoja is standing trial alongside a former Finance Commissioner Waheed Akanbi. The defendants were arraigned before Justice Mohammed Idris on December 14, 2016, on an eight-count charge. Each defendant pleaded not guilty. At the resumption of proceedings, an EFCC operative, Abubakar Madaki, was cross-examined by the defence team, while first and second defendants’ counsel Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika and Bolaji Onilenla said they intended to make a “no-case submission”.

Nigerians will enjoy 24 hours power supply if Buhari is re-elected - Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has said Nigerians will enjoy 24 hours power supply if President Muhammadu Buhari is given a second chance. Amaechi also said the Buhari led administration has achieved a lot in security, road, fight against corruption. The Minister also said the government is tackling killings associated with herdsmen Amaechi disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday during an interactive session with the media. Speaking on why Buhari and the APC government deserves second term, he said: “Nigerians have taught me a lesson I learnt in politics and that is why nothing bothers me again. The people praising you today, if you see them when you are out of power, you will be shocked.  Those singing hallelujah and hosanna will still be the same people to shout crucify him tomorrow.

Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji had her baby shower in Atlanta. Linda is expecting her first child, a baby boy, any moment from now. The Nigerian blogger arrived Atlanta for the birth of her son back in August. In a cheeky post where she announced she was now accepting gifts for her baby, Linda wrote: “Now let me make a very public and official warning. People always say ‘Linda has money, Linda has money’ so people hardly give me anything. . ‘What do you give a woman who can buy anything she wants?’, they say. Is that so? Pls pls, I don’t want to hear that nonsense when my son is born. I want gifts! Baby gifts. So all of you be warned! And start preparing”
