The police in Lagos have arrested an 18-year-old lady, Kafayat Olawale, for allegedly stabbing to death her boyfriend, Ojo Ijabike, 32. The incident happened on Friday on Olutola Adebayo Street, off Idimu Road, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State. Investigations by   our correspondent   revealed that Ijabike, an indigene of Owo, Ondo State, had attempted to forcefully have carnal knowledge of the suspect when there was a scuffle between them.

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state. The incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction.

The  Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has advised that adequate security measures be put in place in volatile areas across the country before the announcement of election results. Rev. Shuaibu Byel, the CAN Chairman, North East Zone, made the suggestion in an interview, in Bauchi State yesterday. Byel said the measure would help in averting post-election violence, especially with regard to the outcome of the presidential election.

Armed robbers struck in Owo town in Ondo State on Thursday, robbing some banks and killing a bank manager. Our correspondent gathered that the robbers, numbering about 10, killed the manager of a branch of Wema Bank in the town and another employee of the bank during the robbery. It was learnt that the deceased, whose identities were yet to be identified, were shot by the robbers for allegedly refusing to cooperate with them. The co-pilot of Germanwings 9525 had sole control of the doomed flight that crashed into the French Alps early Tuesday and "wanted to destroy this plane," a French prosecutor said Thursday. The cockpit voice recorder, recovered on Wednesday from the rugged terrain north of Nice appeared to show the pilot locked out of the cockpit and knocking on the door, first politely, then frantically in the moments before the jet, carrying 150 passengers and crew, began a rapid descent that killed all aboard. Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz appeared to intentionally crash the plane, prosecutors said.

The remains of Aishat Noble-Mustapha, a worker with the Silverbird Cinemas, who was killed by a yet-to-be-identified assailant, have been laid to rest in Lagos State. The 26-year-old was buried around 2pm on Wednesday at the Atan Cemetry, Yaba, as friends and relatives paid her their last respect. Our correspondent was told that some students from the University of Lagos, Akoka, were also in attendance, as the deceased was a student of the varsity until her death.

A Detroit mother was arrested Tuesday after the frozen bodies of a boy and girl were found in a deep freezer in the family's home, police said. Court officers found the children's bodies while carrying out an eviction order at the 3-bedroom home in the apartment complex just east of downtown. An autopsy will determine how they died. Police initially reported a woman's body was found in the freezer, but later said it was actually the bodies of the two children in a plastic bag. The boy was about 11 and the girl was 14, said police Chief James Craig who called it a "terrible find."

A man, Godwin Elewana, has been accused of killing a 22-year-old youth, Douglas Ojugbo, for allegedly having an affair with his daughter. Neighbours said Elewana, who lives in the Cross River Basin Development Authority, Eight Miles area of Calabar, Cross River State, had warned Douglas to stop coming to his house to see his daughter. It was learnt that Elewena could no longer hold his anger on March 10 when he pursued the boy from his house and allegedly shot him to death. It was   gathered that Elewana first shot Douglas in the arm, and later gave him another shot in the leg.

A riot policeman on a motorcycle was burnt to death on Tuesday at the UNILAG waterfront end of the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State. It was   learnt that his colleague, who was in critical condition, suffered burns injuries and had been rushed to a medical facility by rescue officials attached to the Lagos State Ambulance Service. Our correspondent was told by some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority that the two men were riding the motorcycle marked, Lagos APP 738 QC, towards the Oworonshoki area of the state, when the incident happened.

The police in Lagos have arrested a 42-year-old man, Alli Mustapha, for allegedly killing one of his customers, Idowu Maliki, in Ikotun area of Lagos State. It was learnt that Mustapha had a shop at Imope Compound in Ikotun, where he sold petty goods to people in the community. The Niger State indigene was alleged to have sold a stick of cigarette to the deceased on Saturday, March 7, which the latter refused to pay for. All 144 passengers and six crew were today presumed dead after an Airbus A320 crashed in a remote region of the French Alps en route from Spain to Germany.
