Kefee & Teddy  The remains of gospel singer, Kefee is expected to arrive Nigeria this week for burial. According to information available, arrangements are already being stepped up to receive the Branama Queen in Delta state, on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. The Nigerian community in the US where her obituary was first announced on Friday June 13, 2014, are also doing all within their capacity to give necessary support to the family for a befitting burial. No further details of her burial programme from her family as our efforts to get her younger brother, Kelvin didn’t yield any positive result. Repeated calls to his mobile phone were not answered. Our text message to him was not replied before we went to press. We also made attempts to get across to her husband, Teddy Don Momoh who is still in the US, his mobile phone couldn’t be reached. A close friend of the On-Air Personality, however, told ENCOMIUM Weekly that Teddy has been devastated since his wife, Kefee passed on.

Angry youths in the Apete area of Ibadan, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State, on Saturday evening and Sunday morning attacked the work station of the contractor handling the construction of the Ijokodo-Apete Road and the bridge linking the two communities. The youth destroyed equipment and vandalized property at the station. They were protesting the death of about 10 persons who allegedly drowned on Saturday after a makeshift bridge across a river collapsed as a result of heavy rain.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a pastor, identified simply as Abimbola, for the death of a 54-year-old man, Yusuf Kamilu, whose body parts were also removed. Punch Metro   learnt that Kamilu, who hails from Abeokuta and was living on Ade Oshunowo Street, Giwa Junction, Oke Aro, Agbado, Ogun State, had gone to visit Abimbola on Tuesday, June 10, in a neighbouring area. He was later found lying unconscious by the roadside the following morning. Our correspondent gathered that the passersby who were shocked to see Kamilu, whose eyes and tongue had been removed, reported the incident to the Ayinla Police Division and the police rushed him to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja where he eventually died on Friday, June 13. When you read about some frauds happening in the Banking Industry, you can't but wonder whom to trust with your money again, people have got no Conscience.  Punch reported that an 87-year-old woman, Mrs. Sanusi Adebisi, has locked horns with the Union Bank Plc over the N253,000 withdrawn from her account in the bank via the Internet sometime in October 2013. The claimant told the Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Ojokoro, Agbado area of Lagos that she just got N200,000 of the sum from her cooperatives to operate the tumour in her eye. She told the court that the tumour had worsened since the scam took place because no longer had money to get rid of it. Adebisi, who sells drinks in Orile-Agege, said she had been the sole signatory to her account since 1970s before her only daughter, Sanusi Ifedayo, was included as a joint signatory due to a health problem. Students in State tertiary institutions have been protesting the huge hike in tuition fees at their various institutions of learning since last year. Some students have been made to drop out from school because of their inability to afford the over 200% hike in fees. Many also forced to repeat a session for failing to meet the deadline to pay fees. Despite the exorbitant costs, there have been no improvements by government in infrastructure provided in these schools and lecturers are at battle point with State governments over the issue of salary and allowances The situation in State run primary and secondary schools is similar. Doreta Norris, 52, spent the last moments before undergoing a double mastectomy dancing to Gagnam style music with a team of nurses at the   Piedmont Henry Hospital   in Stockbridge, Georgia. Mrs Norris said she heard music playing in the hospital’s hallway as she walked out of her room and decided to channel her fears into what she described as an ‘emotional’ dance. ‘I heard the music playing and began to dance. It was an emotional dance. Staff came up to hug me, dance with me and give me words of encouragement. I truly felt like I could conquer the world,’ she added.

Christian mother Meriam Ibrahim was pictured cradling her baby girl in the back seat of a car on Thursday night moments after she was freed by the Sudanese police.   Dr Ibrahim had been arrested at Khartoum airport on Tuesday as she and her American husband Daniel Wani tried to leave the country.   The mother-of-two, who had been facing a death sentence for converting to Christianity, was accused of trying to use forged travel documents when she presented airport staff with emergency paperwork issued by the U.S. embassy and South Sudan. The 27-year-old doctor is expected to fly to South Sudan with her husband and two young children, before making her way to the U.S. to start a new life.  

Like father, like son aptly describes Yule Edochie and his dad, TV vet­eran, Chief Pete Edochie. A graduate of Theatre Arts, Yul is fast carving a niche for himself as one of Nigeria’s most sought after actors. Y ule joined Nollywood in 2005. Ugonna Agu, a 14-year-old stu­dent of the Vivian Fowler Memo­rial College for Girls in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, was the cynosure of all eyes at the recent Junior Secondary School graduation ceremony of the col­lege. She won 12 of the 21 categories of prizes presented to outstanding students in various subjects. Many pregnant women do like to keep up with a gentle exercise routine while expecting, but it's doubtful that many would fancy doing an 800m running race. However, a  five-time national champion did just that and ran it in just over two minutes - all while she was 34-weeks pregnant. Alysia Montano, a former University of California star   athlete, may have finished last in the race yesterday at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, but she said she felt 'really good'. The 28-year-old runner, who received a standing ovation after completing the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds, said: 'I’ve been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process.'Her finishing time was 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34, which she smashed back in 2010 in a race in Monaco.

A six-year-old boy, Emmanuel Emeka, who was rescued from a suspected kidnapper on Wednesday in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, has recounted how he was lured, seized and tied up by his abductor. Emmanuel said the suspect, identified as Mama Ifunaya, who was a neighbour, lured him into her room, strangled him, covered his mouth with clothes before tying him up with rope to prevent him from screaming. He said, “I wanted to draw water and take my bath before going to school when she told me to come. I went because I know her; she is Mama Ifunnaya. But when I got to her side, she threw me inside her room… she closed her net. She then tied me and put me inside a box. “I wanted to shout, but I could not shout properly. I heard my mummy’s voice when she was looking for me, but I could not shout. Their was report  this morning that a  fatal motor accident  occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway -between Berger and Kara Bridge.   The accident was reportedly caused by a collision between a moving truck and a faulty truck, which was parked on the expressway. An anti-corruption group, Transparency International, has faulted the decision of the Federal Government to drop corruption charges against Mohammed Abacha, son of the late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.  TI expressed this dissatisfaction in a statement by its Regional Director for sub-Saharan Africa, Chantal Uwimana, on Thursday. The Federal Government had charged Mohammed Abacha for helping his father to steal and launder about N446.3bn allegedly stolen from the government’s coffers between 1995 and 1998. But Adoke, acting on behalf of the Federal Government last Wednesday, asked Justice Mamman Kolo of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to strike out the charges on the grounds of “fresh facts” that just emerged concerning the case. A zonal pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mr. Victor Edo, said he had to donate his blood in exchange for money to satisfy his urge for heroin, cocaine and some other hard drugs. They are educated and have seen good lives  and environments, their kids and families are outside Nigeria enjoying the goodies of Europe, Asia, America and developed nation but we are here fighting each other, imagine after commenting here on Facebook you will go home the same without any change in your life, without a job even with a job, which is not secured , no good road, no good schools, no good hospitals, no good environments, no employment, while those leaders are enjoying and looting our God given natural resources .

The protesters, who gathered at the popular Olaiya Junction which is at the centre of Osogbo, caused traffic jam as they barricaded the road. The pensioners accused the government of frustrating them, saying many of them had died due to lack of money while some of their children had been withdrawn from schools for the same reason. A grieving mother, Mrs Idayat Erikitola, on Thursday told an Ikeja High Court how her neighbour, Patrick Onyeka, abducted and strangled her son to death in Ikotun area of Lagos. Erikitola gave the narrative while testifying before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye at the commencement of Onyeka’s trial. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Onyeka was arraigned on May 15 by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on a charge of murder. The DPP alleged that he lured the eight-year-old boy into his residence at Plot 14, 3rd Ave., Mulmaco Estate, Ikotun, Lagos, on Jan.12, 2013 and murdered him.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu The senate on Thursday directed its committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to investigate the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, over her alleged criticisms of the red chamber and its leadership in the media. The action was sequel to a motion raised by the Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN) under Order 43 (Privileges) of the Senate Standing Orders (2011, as amended). Ndoma-Egba drew the attention of his colleagues to some newspaper publications on the interview granted by Tinubu where she reportedly condemned “the rot” in the Senate. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a gang of human parts traders who were allegedly plying their “business” in several markets in Lagos. The four-man gang, who were arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, are Olakunle Ogunsola, Oyebamiji Olalekan, Rasheed Opeyemi and Akorede Wasiu. Our correspondent learnt that the gang was arrested after a tip-off to the police.
