Here is an Excerpt from his interview with Saturday Punch: Some Nigerians believe that the executive has been taking the federal parliament for a ride because of the passive nature of the Senate. They cite last Thursday’s invasion of the National Assembly by the police as a case in point. What is your comment on this? Let me say that the show of force in the National Assembly by the security agencies last Thursday was quite unfortunate and totally unnecessary because the precincts of any parliament are supposed to be sacrosanct and their action was a violation of that. I will not be able to go into the substantive issues on why it happened or did not happen because I have been told that there are several court matters on those issues and being a lawyer, I will not be making any comment. Afrobeat   king, Femi Kuti, clocked 46 two weeks back. But in spite of how blessed he has been, he still regrets that he is not the father of two of his five children. He revealed this few days to his birthday in an interview. Out of his alleged five children: Made, Afolabi, Dupe, Tosin and Ayomide, two of them, Dupe and Tosin (a boy and a girl) have been discovered not to be his biological children, according to a recent DNA test.  He confessed being disappointed and pained that a woman can actually give someone what does not belong to him.

The plan to restore all the privileges of former Governor Olusegun Oni by the incumbent Governor Ayodele Fayose has again ignited another round of controversies in Ekiti State.  While taking the decision, Fayose, had claimed he decided not to rubbish efforts of past rulers of the state. A man said to be in his 70s has been found dead around the Pen Cinema roundabout in the Agege area of Lagos. Oriyomi Simon, had left his home in the Agbado area of the state at about 9am on Thursday to visit a friend in Agege before he slumped at the spot– a few steps away from the Pen Cinema Police Division. Our correspondent, who was at the scene of the incident around 2pm, approached a policewoman and a KAI official for information about the incident. They directed him to the station for enquiry.

A suspected armed robber arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, Felix Odion, has said he never missed a church service despite the fact that he robbed for a living. Odion, who was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad along with his partner, Titus Anthony, on November 22 from a hideout in Ifo, Ogun State, told our correspondent that he was lured into joining a robbery gang and insisted that he was a committed church member. Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were apprehended by the police for allegedly snatching expensive vehicles in different parts of Lagos, one of which had been recovered. According to the police, the recovered vehicle is a Toyota Camry 2004 model. The 23-year-old Odion, said he was given N70, 000 from the first robbery operation, adding that he had gone out with the gang only on two occasions. Anthony and Odion

The All Progressives Congress, some Senior Advocates of Nigeria including Olisa Agbakoba, Yusuf Ali and Niyi Akintola, have called for the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, over his refusal to acknowledge Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said Abba had shown that he was ‘partisan’ and would not be able to ensure a free and fair election next year. Ogun State-born Oloruntoba Ogunfolaji leads the pack in this year’s West African Examinations Council Academic Excellence Awards. Nineteen-year-old Oloruntoba Ogunfolaji has emerged the best scholar in the 2013 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination. The leadership of the West African Examinations Council honoured the lad alongside two females on Thursday in Minna, Niger State. The females are Ifeoluwapo Fasola and Maureen Anyanwu, both of who are natives of Oyo and Imo states, respectively. Oloruntoba Ogunfolaji 

Pastor Mrs. Nomthi Odukoya, wife of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya  of   The Fountain of Life   Church is using today being the ‘American Thanksgiving Day’ to be thankful to God for the blessing of her Pastor hubby. She posted this on her Facebook page few minutes ago. The couple got married on January 5, 2010, 5 yeras after the death of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya’s first wife in 2005, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya. 

A stylist to the Miss Honduras who was murdered last week has been found stabbed to death in his bath, it was reported today. Luis Alfredo Garcia, who was a make-up artist for Maria Jose Alvarado, was apparently tied up before being repeatedly knifed in the neck.  Mr Garcia's decomposing remains were discovered at his home on the island of Roatan just days after Miss Alvarado and her sister Sophia Trinidad were killed.  Their bodies were found buried along the banks of a river last Wednesday, the same day Miss Alvarado, 19, was set to fly to London to compete in the Miss World pageant. 

A rugby coach claimed he fled after   crashing a car while drunk   - because he was dressed as RIHANNA.  Glenn Stroud, 43, had been at a 'Stars in Their Eyes' fancy dress party and was wearing a red wig, purple dress and make-up when his Ford Ka ploughed into an oncoming Corsa. His lawyer told a court he was too embarrassed to stop because of his drag outfit and drove off.

After last year's wettest winter on record, many of those whose homes were damaged by flood water are struggling to pay their soaring insurance bills. Philip Maye had just finished renovating his home on the Somerset Levels when the flood hit. The water was more than 3ft (1m) deep and remained for three weeks. It was a nightmare for the 63-year-old and his wife Maria, but the financial pain was only just beginning.

The first human trial of an experimental vaccine against Ebola suggests that it is safe and may help the immune system to combat the virus. Twenty volunteers were immunised in the United States. Scientists at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) described the results as "promising". The research is published in the   New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). None of those immunised suffered major side-effects and all produced antibodies.

Nigeria's Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke, has been elected as President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Alison-Madueke’s election as President of OPEC took place on Thursday at the ongoing 166th ordinary meeting of the Organisation, taking place in Vienna, Austria. She becomes the first female to be elected into that position, and replaces Libya’s Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish, who was occupying the position.

  A notorious prisoner got four female guards pregnant as he played "kingpin" inside a corrupt jail, a court has heard.  Gangster Tavon White was serving 20 years for attempted murder inside Baltimore City Detention Centre. But he managed to make tens of thousands of dollars a week by smuggling in drugs and mobile phones,   CBS Baltimore reports , and was once heard saying: "This is my jail. My word is law."

Police chief  Suleiman Abbah finally showed up at the House of Representatives yesterday. The Inspector-General had been invited by the House Committee on Police Affairs to shed light on the November 20 invasion of the National Assembly when Speaker Aminu Tambuwal and other members of the House were tear gassed. The meeting was, however, ill- fated. The session, which began at 2.20pm on a tense note, ended abruptly because Abbah refused to acknowledge Tambuwal as Speaker in his speech, drawing the ire of the committee’s members.

Thirty-year-old first class graduate of Economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Moses Murtala Aminu was shot dead by a constable with the Nigeria Police.  Moses had on Sunday, left his No. 67 Ahmadu Ahidjo Street, Narayi High Cost family residence for a party in Barnawa, Kaduna State.

Operatives of Jigawa State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have apprehended three men for allegedly attempting to pull out the baby from the womb of an eight-month pregnant woman at Gusau quarters in Gumel Local Government. The suspects, A damu Usman Barma, 31; Fawas Bala, 28; and Buhari Ahmed, 29, were said to be the 20-year-old woman’s lovers.

Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a Lagos State High Court has ordered the remand of a 77-year-old woman, Alhaja Mulikat Shonekan, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Shonekan, who is a community leader in Lagos, is to remain in the custody of the anti-graft commission till she would meet the court’s bail conditions of N5m and two sureties in like sum. Three suspects, who allegedly kidnapped a Lagos businessman, Alhaji Hammed Fashola, have narrated how they chained the victim and kept him inside a toilet for four days. On Monday, November 24, the Lagos State Police Command arrested two brothers ─ Kelvin and Victor Igah ─ and Mr. Chukwuma Kingsley for allegedly kidnapping Fashola near his residence in Egbeda, Lagos on November 13. It was reported that the three suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad from their hideout on Odeniyi Ishola Street, Isheri-Oshun, Lagos four days later, while Fashola was rescued by the police.
