SILVERBIRD CINEMAS STAFF, AISHAT MUSTAPHA BURIED IN LAGOS AMIDST TEARS
The remains of
Aishat Noble-Mustapha, a worker with the Silverbird Cinemas, who was killed by
a yet-to-be-identified assailant, have been laid to rest in Lagos State.
The 26-year-old was buried around 2pm on Wednesday at the Atan
Cemetry, Yaba, as friends and relatives paid her their last respect.
Our
correspondent was told that some students from the University of Lagos, Akoka,
were also in attendance, as the deceased was a student of the varsity until her
death.
Aisha Noble-Mustapha was
murdered in cold blood shortly after she arrived at her residence in the Ogudu
GRA from work.
Our
correspondent reported that the Etsako-West, Auchi, Edo State indigene who was
the only child of her parents, was stabbed many times.
A 21-year-old
suspect was said to have been arrested by policemen from the Ogudu Police
Division. The suspect was
alleged to have been found in custody of the deceased’s blood-stained phone. The police
released the victim’s corpse to the family and the body was buried on Wednesday.
Her guardian,
Mr. Abubakar Haruna, said, “Yes, we have buried her today. We did that in Lagos.”
Late Aishat had been
working at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island before she was recently
transferred to the Box Office of the Silverbird Cinemas at Ikeja City Mall. She
was said to have closed from work at 7.30pm Saturday evening and driven home
where she met her untimely death at the gate of her house.
The Police
Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said although the victim had been
buried, the case was not dead, adding that the police would give her family
justice.
Nwosu said, “The
victim has been buried, yes; but investigations into the circumstances
surrounding her death continue. The case is not dead. The police will get
justice for her family.”
