Court remands pastor in prison for alleged possession of human skull and Sleeping with female members in Osun
It would be recalled the human head was found under a big mortal kept in the bamboo constructed in the church which was located at Anglican High School, Edunabon, Ife North Local Government Area. The 43-year-old pastor, Adeyemo popularly called Efa-Efa was arrested following the tip off from some people residing in the community.
Some of the youths in the community who had been
observing the conduct of the pastor stormed the church few weeks back, accusing
the pastor of alleged rape of his female members and other unwholesome
misconducts.
When the suspect was arraigned yesterday, the Police
Prosecutor, Sergeant Okeniyi informed the court that the Pastor Adeyemo
committed the offence on August 6, 2017 at Edunabon, adding that the accused
was found to be in possession of dried bones suspected to be human parts.
He contended that the offence was contrary to and
punishable under Section 249 and 329A of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws
of Osun State 2002.
But the suspect pleaded not guilty to the
two-count charge of breach of public peace and illegal possession of human
skull leveled against him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Idowu ordered the
accused to be remanded in custody at Ile-Ife prison and subsequently adjourned
the case to September 9, 2017 for mention.
Meanwhile, it took the effort of the Magistrate
and the community legal representative, Barrister Babatunde Babasola, to avert
the crisis as aggrieved youths attempted to lynch the pastor before he moved
away in the vehicle of the Nigeria Prison Service (NPS).
