LATE STUDENT LEADER SEGUN OKEOWO’S LYING-IN-STATE

Last Respect for a Man of Honour

Okeowo, the man behind the “Ali Must Go” struggle in the 70s died on January 26, after a brief illness at the age of 73.

The daughter, Mrs. Dele Womiloju, in a chat with newsmen ahead of the burial slated for tomorrow, said her father never believed in travelling abroad and as such, had no travel documents.

“I discovered he had no travel documents last year when I was planning to fly him to India for medical treatment. In fact, we had concluded arrangements when he died. But I am sure he would not have agreed to go. He was so passionate about this country that all efforts to get him to travel abroad for vacation were rebuffed. He always maintained that there is nothing abroad that Nigeria does not have”, she said.

Meanwhile, the burial programme continues today with a lying-in-state at Simawa.
