Suspected killer of Ekiti monarch arrested
Ekiti State Police Command has arrested the alleged killer of the traditional ruler of Odo-Oro in Ikole Local Government Area, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin.
Recall that the monarch was killed on Monday after holding a council meeting with his chiefs.
The Police had launched a manhunt for the suspect after he stabbed the traditional ruler to death. The king was killed by the suspect, who was alleged to be mentally unstable, shortly after chairing a meeting with his chiefs, where matters of community development were said to have been discussed.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said yesterday, that the culprit had been apprehended.
Ikechukwu gave the name of the suspect as Omoniyi
Ademola Stephen.
Ikechukwu informed Vanguard that Ademola was
arrested around 4.30p.m. on Monday around Ajao Market in Ado-Ekiti.
He said: “The suspect has been arrested and he was
brought in under investigation. He confessed to the act and our investigation
continues.
“The matter has been transferred to the State
Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for more investigation.”
Ikechukwu assured that the Police would be
professional in their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the
killing.
