Man jailed one year for N15,000 generator parts


An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Tuesday sentenced a 21-year-old man, Tunde Kareem to one-year imprisonment for stealing generator parts valued at N15,000.

The Magistrate, Mr S.O. Banwo, sentenced Kareem after he pleaded guilty to a three-count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy. Banwo said that the jail term without an option of fine should serve as deterrent to others.



Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, had told the court told that the accused committed the offences with some others still at large on Feb. 23, at about 5.00 a. m. at Papa-Ojuore Street,Ota. Gbesi said the accused broke into the shop of the complainant, Tunde Emmanuel, and stole generator parts.

“The accused was caught by security guards and handed over to the police,’’ he said. The offences contravened Sections 390(9), 413 (1) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
