A neighbour, John Udah, said, “Nwokoye family
members were shot one after the other by
gunmen in their residence inside a church premises.
“It happened in the early hours of yesterday
(Thursday). We heard gun-shots, but nobody knew what was happening and nobody
could come out at that unholy hour.
“It was after the killers had gone that we knew
the enormity of what had happened. We rushed to the house, but by the time we
got there, the father and the two children were already dead.
“The mother and the fifth person were still
breathing, when we got there, we rushed them to
the Ikorodu General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by the doctor
on duty.
“We can’t say who eliminated the family, but, I
don’t suspect the killers were armed robbers. I think they were assassinated,”
he said.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Dolapo
Badmos, confirmed the incident, as she said the police have a credible lead on
the crime.
According to Badmos, “there was a report that one
Celestine Nwokoye and members of his family were found dead in the pool of
their own blood.
“Celestine and his two male children, three and
eight months old respectively have been confirmed dead, while the mother and
the two daughters, who were seriously injured have been taken to the hospital
for treatment.
“The incident occurred inside a church premises.
The command is working seriously to unmask those behind the dastardly act. We
have some leads we are working on. We are optimistic of breaking through,” she
