Police arraign Beninoise wife for poisoning husband
The Lagos State Police
Command has arraigned a 19-year-old wife, Abiodun Ojo, and her partner, Wesu
Akan, 20, before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for the alleged murder of one Jimoh
Ojo.
It was reported that Jimoh died from drinking
a poisoned bottle of soft drink given to him by Abiodun on June 19 at Makoko,
Lagos State..
Abiodun reportedly got the poison from
Akan, the elder brother of Abiodun’s ex-boyfriend.
Abiodun had been involved with and
wanted to marry Akan’s younger brother, but her father arranged for her to
marry the deceased instead.
Abiodun eventually married late Jimoh,
and the union resulted in a female child.
However the 19-year-old later allegedly
conspired with Akan, to kill her husband, so that she could marry his younger
brother.
The defendants were arraigned on two
counts of murder.

Jimoh Ojo, 30 years, by adulterating his drink with an insecticide substance
and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal
Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011”
The defendants’ plea was not taken.

“Application for prosecution has been granted.
