INSIDE BAZ LUHRMANN AND CATHERINE MARTIN'S AMAZING DINING ROOM
The public has been given a brief glimpse at the beautiful home of Australian film director Baz Luhrmann and his Oscar-winning costume designer wife, Catherine Martin.
The couple played host
to an intimate gathering for Vogue Australia on Thursday evening, which
included A-list guests such as Australian actor Joel Edgerton.
The magazine held a
special supper in honour of Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani being
in Sydney.
An image posted to
Vogue's Instagram Thursday night revealed a snapshot of a breathtaking
dining table that stretched almost the length of a luxurious room in the
couple's home.
Fine crystal wine
glasses and place cards marked each spot at the long table, while flowers and
candles placed around the room created a romantic atmosphere.
In another shot, a grand
piano is visible at the end of the table, where singers and a pianist appear
set to perform.
'Wouldn't be a supper at
Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin's house without an impromptu ballad,' Vogue
captioned the picture.
The exclusive dinner was
part of a series of events held in Sydney this week to celebrate a special
Australian-focused edition of Italian men's fashion magazine, L'Uomo Vogue.
Luhrmann and Martin
briefly put the grand Darlinghurst mansion on the market last year before
quickly changing their minds.
The Great Gatsby director and the costume designer, who this year won two Oscars for her work on the film to add to the two she earned in 2002 for Moulin Rouge, 'love it too much' to leave, the Sydney Morning Herald reported last year.
It was also reported at
the time that the pair was experiencing financial woes after a budget blow-out
making The Great Gatsby, Domain.com.au reported.
The 1880s Victorian
mansion named Iona, which was once a hospital, is also the headquarters of
Luhrmann's production company Bazmark.
The couple paid $10
million for the exclusive property in 2006 and had listed it for $15 million
before quickly pulling it off the market.
