Activist Deji Adeyanju of Concerned Nigerians has said that medical tourists to the United Kingdom including the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will be most affected by the travel restrictions slammed on Nigeria by Britain. He stated that the travel restriction by the Boris Johnson administration, as well as other nations, was baseless as there was no need for panic. Britain had on Saturday banned Nigerian travellers after it said it discovered 21 cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in people who recently visited Nigeria, saying the measure was a temporary measure aimed at protecting its public health. Former German chancellor, Angela Merkel on Wednesday watched as a new chancellor, Olaf Scholz was sworn in, bringing to an end, her 16-year reign in that office. Merkel advised the new chancellor, saying "I know you are starting work highly motivated, take this office and work in the best interest of our country -- that is my wish."

Several pupils have been crushed to death by a hit-and-run truck driver along Ogunusi Road, Grammar School bus stop, Lagos State. It was learnt that the pupils were going home after closing time and wanted to cross the road when the truck ran over them. The driver was reportedly chased to the Ogba area where he was arrested. “I have never witnessed such a terrible scene in my life. I saw about 15 pupils lying lifeless on the floor. The incident occurred around 2 pm,” a commercial motorcyclist told our correspondent. Riot has broken out as a result of the incident as policemen fired tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd. A 44-year-old father of three, Gabriel Anthony Patrick has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja for ingesting 96 pellets of cocaine, which he excreted in the custody of the Agency. A native of Nike in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu state, Gabriel was arrested on Friday 26th November during an outward clearance of Turkish Airline at the boarding screening area of the airport enroute Abuja-Istanbul-Madrid. He had travelled to Germany in 1996 for two years on asylum after which he relocated to Spain in 1999 where he currently holds a residence permit and works as a driver in a food manufacturing company. The lifeless bodies of eight children were found inside a parked vehicle in a fenced compound in the Jah-Michael community,Magbon, Olorunda area of Badagry, Lagos. The children were said to be playing and mistakenly lock themselves inside the abandoned car. According to police, the bodies of the children have been taken to the mortuary for autopsy. Vanguard

He, however, says he has never taken antiretroviral drugs to subdue the virus but has been able to stay healthy and maintain a CD4 count above 600. The former National Coordinator, Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria said he has for years depended on daily intake of fruits, eating a balanced diet, living a positive lifestyle and doing regular exercise to stay healthy.
