Crocodile Kills Pastor During Water Baptism In Ethiopia
A lakeside baptism ended in disaster when a huge
crocodile leapt from the water and mauled the pastor to death in front of
horrified crowds in Ethiopia, according to reports.
The pastor, named locally as Docho Eshete, was
killed after the large reptile clamped down on his legs, back and hands during
the baptism at Lake Abaya in the Merkeb Tabya district.
He was conducting the ceremony for about 80 people
before the animal sprung out of the water and attacked him in front of the
terrified congregation on Sunday morning, the BBC reported.
"He baptised the first person and he passed
on to another one. All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and
grabbed the pastor," a local resident told the broadcaster.
Onlookers used fishing nets to stop the crocodile
from taking the pastor's body into the lake.
The crocodile escaped.
