2019: DPC seeks term limit for federal lawmakers; Some have been there Forever
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the
Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has called for the immediate amendment of
the 1999 Constitution to provide a term limit for National Assembly members.
The National Chairman of DPC, Rev. Olusegun
Peters, who said this yesterday in Abuja, added that the term limit would
enhance lawmaking and diligence in the discharge of lawmaking for national
interest.
He said some lawmakers had turned the National
Assembly into a house of commotion, corruption and retirement home where they
made laws to satisfy their insatiable lust for power and wealth.
He also said the party would hold its first
national convention on February 22, 2018, in Abuja.
