Her Majesty visited the Tollcross International Swimming Centre on the first day of the Commonwealth Games - but had her view somewhat obscured. 

Far from the grins which were employed while watching the hockey, the Queen's expression was a little more strained, as she spent most of her time as a spectator craning her neck for a better view, pictured left and right, over the head of The Hon. Annabel Alice Hoyer Whitehead. 

 The Queen began to look dejected, as she dodged around her lady-in-waiting so she could see the action.
